BCSO Heat Unit charges Chattanooga man in undercover operation
Blount County Sheriff James Berrong said that a Chattanooga man was charged today with solicitation of a minor (Class E Felony) following an on-line undercover operation conducted by the Sheriff's Office HEAT (Hi-Tech Evidence and Technology) Unit.
Jay Alex Murphy, 49, of Chattanooga, was charged with solicitation of a minor. He is being held at the Blount County Detention Facility on a $30,000 bond pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. February 19.
For a week and a half, the HEAT Unit conducted an on-line investigation on Murphy. The investigation culminated this week when members of the HEAT Unit, assisted by the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force and the Alcoa Police Department, took Murphy into custody.
