Alcoa resident taken into custody during search warrant
Blount County Sheriff James Berrong announced today that the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force seized crack cocaine as well as cash during a search warrant that was conducted on the man's residence Friday evening.
Da Mon Lynn Watson, 27, Morris Street, Alcoa, has been released from the Blount County Detention Facility on bonds totaling $51,000. Watson was charged with possession of a Scheduled II controlled substance (crack cocaine) with the intent to resell, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. Watson will face his charges in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. February 24.
The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Sheriff's Office SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team and the Alcoa Police Department, executed a search warrant at Watson's residence Friday evening. During the search warrant, agents seized 12 grams of cocaine on Watson's person, as well as 1 gram of crack cocaine inside the residence. The street value of the crack cocaine is approximately $1,300. In addition, agents also seized more than $2,300 cash and two sets of digital scales which contained cocaine residue.
Five other people were detained for a short time at the residence, and later released.
The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force is comprised of officers and deputies with the Blount County Sheriff's Office, the Alcoa Police Department, and the Maryville Police Department.
