FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Three Monroe County residents charged in methamphetamine bust

Blount County Sheriff James L. Berrong said today that three Monroe County men were taken into custody Monday and charged with promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine following an investigation by the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force.

Karl Allen Bearlepp, 25, Madisonville, Daniel Gerard Doyon, 22, Vonore, John Allen Doyon, 20, Tellico Plains, are all being held at the Blount County Detention Facility pending hearings in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. March 17. Bearlepp is charged with tampering with evidence, promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bonds total $81,000. Daniel Doyan and John Doyon are both charged with promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine; they are being held on a $50,000 bond each.

Yesterday, investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force were alerted to the arrival of a suspicious person shopping for pseudoephedrine at a Blount County business. Narcotics investigators approached Karl Bearlepp at his vehicle which was parked in the parking lot of the business. Daniel Doyon and John Doyon were both in the vehicle. Bearlepp had purchased a ninety-six (96) dosage unit box of pseudoephedrine. Investigators also found four invidually wrapped baggies of methamphetamine in the vehicle, along with several other precursors which the three individuals purchased at other Blount County businesses throughout the day. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle. During the interview, investigators learned that the precursors were being taken to another county for the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force were assisted by deputies with the Blount County Sheriff's Office.

The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force is comprised of deputies and officers of the Blount County Sheriff's Office, Maryville Police Department, and Alcoa Police Department. All investigators assigned to narcotics investigations are members of the Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force, which allows for specific statewide intelligence sharing used to identify, investigate, and prosecute persons using and manufacturing methamphetamine.
