Townsend man casualty of drowning accident
Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said today a Townsend man died as the result of drowning Thursday evening.
The victim, Bobby William Halcomb, 25, of Clark Drive, Townsend, was pronounced dead at Blount Memorial Hospital last night. Preliminary results of an autopsy on Halcomb today at University of Tennessee Hospital reveal he died as a result of accidental drowning.
Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Peery's Mill at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday to the call of an unresponsive person in the Little River. When deputies arrived, Halcomb was out of the water, and a friend was administering CPR on him. A deputy took over CPR, and Halcomb was then transported by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital.
The Blount County Fire Department also responded to the scene.
