Meth activity keeps Drug Task Force investigators busy
Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force have taken five people into custody on meth-related charges on two separate cases since Monday night.
Investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force responded to a residence on Gregory Road in Greenback this afternoon where they found six separate "one pot" method meth labs. Three people were taken into custody, and Department of Children's Services responded to take custody a four-month-old baby who was inside the residence. Meth-related charges are pending against the following individuals:
" Deanna Brunetta Evans, 32, of Peterson Road, Greenback
" Christine Erin Whitehead, 28, of Gregory Road, Greenback
" Joseph McCall Kemp, 36, of Mountain Crest Lane, Greenback
The suspects were decontaminated at the scene, and the house was quarantined. The Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force responded to dispose of the hazardous waste. Rural/Metro Ambulance Service and the Greenback Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
In a separate case, Drug Task Force investigators arrested two individuals Monday evening in the parking lot of a local business after the pair admitted to purchasing pseudoephedrine to resell to another individual for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine. They each had just purchased a box of pseudoephedrine. The following individuals were charged:
" Brittany Christina Brock, 22, of Mentor Road, Louisville. Brock was charged with promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine.
" Larry Gene Sellers, Jr., 24, of Mentor Road, Louisville. Sellers was charged with promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine, as well as an attachment.
In addition, a third individual, Brian Keith Nutter, 26, of East Union Valley Road, Seymour, was taken into custody on eight outstanding warrants on unrelated charges.
Both Brock and Sellers are being held at the Blount County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond each pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. August 5th.
The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force is comprised of deputies and officers with the Blount County Sheriff's Office, the Alcoa Police Department, and the Maryville Police Department. All investigators are members of the Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force.
