Sheriff's Office offers public firing range days
Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced today the Sheriff's Office is offering its firing range for the public's use two days in October.
The public firing range dates are Saturday, October 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. These public range days are being offered to individuals interested in honing their shooting skills in preparation for the upcoming hunting season. Firearms are limited to rifles. Participants must be over the age of 18, and will be required to bring their own rifles and ammunition. This is a first come, serve basis.
Use of the range is on a first come, first serve basis. Please direct any questions to Training Captain Jeff Burchfield at (865)273-5125.
The firing range is located at the BCSO Training Facility located behind the Newell Rubbermaid plant on William Blount Drive. Directions are as follows:
Directions to BCSO Range from Alcoa Highway: Travel south on Alcoa Highway
to U.S. Highway 321 (West Lamar Alexander Parkway). Turn right onto U.S. 321
at the light, and travel approximately 3 miles to William Blount Drive. Take
a left onto William Blount Drive, and travel approximately one mile to the
Newell Rubbermaid plant on the right. Turn right onto Sharpie Lane and
Follow the signs for the BCSO Training Facility/911 Center. Please note the
Speed limit on Sharpie Lane is 20 mph.
