Two arrested for possession of heroin
Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said two men were arrested tonight following an investigation by the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force.
Tyler James Hicks, 21, Kelly Circle, Louisville, and Raphael Cortez Ferguson, 34, Detroit, Michigan, were both charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (heroin) with intent to resell. The bond amounts have not yet been set. Hicks and Ferguson will face their charges in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. October 2nd. Three other individuals were taken into custody and later released.
Investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force responded to an apartment on Kelly Circle in Louisville at around 5 p.m. today after receiving numerous citizen complaints about heavy traffic at an apartment. When investigators arrived this afternoon, they found two people inside a vehicle at that apartment. One of the individuals in the vehicle was using heroin intravenously. Those two individuals were detained. The investigators made contact with the tenant of the apartment and she gave them consent to search. Investigators found an ounce of heroin inside the apartment.
The investigation is continuing, and charges are pending on other individuals at the scene.
The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force is comprised of deputies and officers with the Blount County Sheriff's Office, the Alcoa Police Department, and the Maryville Police Department.
