Alcoa man charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor
Sheriff James Lee Berrong said today a 38-year-old Alcoa man is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor following his arrest Monday evening.
John Daniel Lynn, 38, of Garfield Street, Alcoa, is being held in the Blount County Detention Facility on bonds totaling $75,000 pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. October 18th. Lynn is charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor for possession of child pornography, and one count of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor for distribution of child pornography.
Lynn's arrest is the result of an on-line investigation by the Sheriff's Office HEAT (Hi-Tech Evidence and Technology) Unit, as part of ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children). Monday, investigators with the HEAT Unit executed a search warrant at Lynn's residence and seized his computer. A forensic exam of the hard drive revealed images and videos of child pornography that had been downloaded from the Internet. The investigation is ongoing.
Director of Schools, Rob Britt, said the administration of Blount County Schools received notification from the Blount County Sheriff's Office on Monday of the arrest of Lynn, who is employed at Prospect Elementary School. Lynn resigned from his position.
