Autopsy reveals no foul play in death of Maryville woman
Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said preliminary results of the autopsy on the 45-year-old Maryville woman who died Wednesday revealed no foul play as the cause of death.
The woman is identified as Carol Ann Dunlap-Stafford, 45, of Eagleton Road, Maryville. Her husband James Howard Stafford, 46, was released from custody a short time ago.
Wednesday afternoon, deputies and detectives with the Blount County Sheriff's Office responded to the Stafford's residence on Eagleton Road to the call of a sick person. When deputies arrived, they found Carol Dunlap-Stafford deceased inside the apartment. James Stafford was taken into custody for investigation pending the outcome of the autopsy.
An autopsy was performed on Carol Dunlap-Stafford this morning at the University of Tennessee Forensics Center.
