Maryville woman killed in car accident; three others seriously injured

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said a 73-year-old Maryville woman was killed and three others injured this morning in a two-car accident on U.S. Highway 321in west Blount County.

Virginia H. Allison, 73, of Madison Avenue, Maryville was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other individuals were taken by Life Star and Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The driver of the second vehicle, Yvonne D. Hall, 47, of Covington, Virginia, and Kiesha F. Beard, 16, of Covington, Virginia were flown by Life Star to U.T. Medical Center. Another individual in Hall's vehicle, Bailey Hall, 18, of Covington, Virginia, was taken by Rural/Metro to U.T. Medical Center. All three are currently being treated for their injuries.

The Sheriff's Office responded to the accident shortly before noon today.

Yvonne Hall was traveling west on U.S. Highway 321 near Endsley Quarry Road in a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze when Virginia Allison, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Astro Van, pulled into the path of the Chevrolet Cruze. Allison was pulling out of Endsley Quarry Road to turn left onto U.S. Highway 321 when she pulled directly into the path of Hall's vehicle. Both vehicles ended up in the median. Kiesha Beard and Bailey Hall were both back seat passengers. Life Star responded and landed in the roadway at the scene on U.S. Highway 321.

Allison was wearing her seatbelt, and the airbags deployed. Yvonne Hall was wearing her seatbelt, but Bailey Hall and Kiesha Beard were not wearing seatbelts. The airbag in the Cruze did deploy.

Rural/Metro Ambulance Service, Friendsville Volunteer Fire Department, and Blount County Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The Blount County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident.
