Sheriff's Office needs assistance identifying vandalism suspects

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong is asking for the public's assistance in identifying four individuals who are suspected of vandalizing Sheriff's Office radio equipment located near the fire tower on the Foothills Parkway.

Photos of the four male suspects are attached.

Monday evening, radio service for the county's dispatch became intermittent. Early Tuesday morning, the National Park Service notified the Sheriff's Office that they found damage to the radio equipment located near the fire tower on Foothills Parkway. The power was out, and a large rock was found on the walk way to the fire tower. Additional rocks were found on top of the breaker boxes, which supplies radio service to the National Park Service and the Sheriff's Office. Damage to the breaker boxes is estimated at $61,000.

If anyone has any information as to the identity of the individuals in the photos, or information regarding who vandalized the equipment, please call the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division during normal business hours at 865.273.5001, the Sheriff's Office 24 hour anonymous Crime Hotline at 865.273.5200, or you may leave a tip through Text-a-Tip on the Sheriff's Office website at www.bcso.com.

The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division is continuing the investigation.
