Road conditions declining due to overnight snowfall

Blount County, Tennessee – Road conditions throughout Blount County are deteriorating due to the overnight snowfall. Patrol supervisors are reporting that roads throughout the county are covered and slick. If you do not have a need to travel today, please stay home. The snow is expected to continue throughout the day with temperatures hovering in the high teens.

The Blount County Highway Department and TDOT are out clearing roadways, but please stay off the roads unless it’s necessary. If you must travel, take it slow and make sure you have an emergency kit in your vehicle to include an extra coat, blankets, and water in case you are stranded. If you are involved in a minor, non-injury accident, deputies may not be able to respond immediately if call volume is high.
