Road conditions deteriorating due to overnight snowfall

Blount County, Tennessee – Road conditions throughout Blount County are deteriorating due to the overnight snowfall and the dropping temperatures. This includes main roads as well as outlying roads throughout the county. The Blount County Highway Department is out clearing roadways, but if you do not have a need to travel, please remain at home. If you must travel, take it slow and leave plenty of distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.

Patrol deputies are out patrolling and responding to calls for service, but it could take them longer to arrive depending on road conditions. If you are involved in a minor, non-injury accident, deputies may not be able to respond immediately if call volume is high. Make sure you have an emergency kit in your vehicle and include an extra coat, blankets, and water in case you are stranded. With today’s forecasted high of 26 degrees and overcast skies and single digit lows tonight, not much melting will occur.
