Maryville, Tennessee – Blount County deputies are currently working multiple injury and non-injury crashes throughout Blount County, and all of the crashes are due to slick roadways. Patrol supervisors are reporting that secondary roads are becoming very slippery, and many of the main state roads are also becoming hazardous for travel.
If you do not have an urgent need to travel, PLEASE stay home and off the roads. Patrol deputies are continuing to patrol as normal, however, if you are involved in a crash and you call 911, response times could be delayed depending on call volume and road conditions. The Blount County Highway Department is out in force, and deputies are communicating with them and Blount County Communications to stay up-to-date on road conditions throughout the day.
Sheriff Berrong is asking our citizens to stay off the roadways today unless travel is urgent. Snowfall is forecast to continue through early Saturday morning, so road conditions will worsen.
We will do our best to keep you informed of new information that may be useful to you.
