
Sheriff honors 13 deputies at retirement reception

Maryville, Tennessee – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong honored thirteen deputies today during a retirement reception today at the Sheriff’s Office.
The following deputies either retired in the last few weeks or will retire in June:
- Deputy Bill Fancher – Juvenile – 38 years of service
- Deputy Rick McNear – Court Services – 27 years of service
- Deputy Lisa Whitehead – Court Services – 27 years of service
- Deputy Janice Postel – Court Services – 24 years of service
- Deputy Hal Weeden – Patrol – 19 years of service
- Deputy Robert Richardson – Administration – 18 years of service
- Kim Richardson – Administration – 11 years of service
- Deputy Richard Gunter – Corrections – 16 years of service
- Deputy Richard “Skip” Kindig – Corrections/K-9 handler – 17 years of service
- Deputy Curtis Moore – Court Services – 17 years of service
- Deputy Joey Hartline – Juvenile – 11 years of service
- Deputy Greg Walsh – Court Services – 7 years of service
- Deputy Jerry Traxler – Court Services – 7 years of service
“All of these deputies have dedicated their lives to the Sheriff’s Office and this community,” Sheriff Berrong said. “Together, these individuals represent 239 years of experience. This is the most deputies we’ve ever had to retire at the same time. It will be hard to replace them, but I am happy for these deputies and their families that they can now enjoy retirement. These men and women are family. They are part of my family; they are part of the Sheriff’s Office family. They will always be welcome.”
