Sheriff’s office offering teen driving class

Maryville, Tennessee – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong is happy to announce the Sheriff’s Office will once again offer its highly popular STAND driving course during two separate sessions July 25-26, 2025 and August 8-9, 2025 at the Sheriff’s Office Training Facility.

STAND (Sheriff and Teens Against Negligent Driving) is a FREE course designed for teen drivers who hold a driver’s permit or restricted driver’s license. Sheriff’s Office certified driving instructors teach the class in a safe and controlled environment at the Sheriff’s Office driving track. The goal of the class is to provide tools every teen driver needs to become a safe driver. During the 10-hour, hands-on course, instructors will focus on distracted driving, drunk and drugged driving, defensive driving, and driver awareness.

Class times are as follows: Friday, July 26, 5 p – 9 p, Saturday, July 27, 9 a – 3 p.

Lunch will be provided on Saturday.

The Sheriff’s Office Training Facility is located at 1431 William Blount Drive, Maryville, Tennessee.

Class size is LIMITED TO 20 STUDENTS so instructors can focus on providing individualized attention with the goal of improving the driving skills of each participant.
