Sheriff’s Office seeking volunteers for Senior Outreach Program

MARYVILLE, TENNESSEE – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong announced the Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for Senior Outreach program volunteers to be part of an upcoming training class.

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and hold a valid driver’s license as well as proof of insurance and agree to a background check. Those interested must be willing to volunteer 16 or more hours each month and be willing to commit to one year of service in the program.

Applicants who are selected will attend a 10 week training course which will be held at the Sheriff’s Office in the near future. Classes meet once a week.


Sheriff’s Office Senior Outreach volunteers check on the elderly and shut-in citizens of Blount County. The program is currently in its 19th year. Over the years, Senior Outreach volunteers have checked on and assisted hundreds of Blount County citizens.
